Depends on the English class. If you go long enough, you reach higher levels of learning grammar and rules of the language than just being able to buy a chicken in a restaurant. But that only gives you the framework. Movies, music, and games can only provide some vocabulary, accents, and colloquial use, so basically things to do with the language based on that framework. Dismissing one or the other will always result in incomplete knowledge. And nothing is better than expressing yourself.
yes, well I wouldn't have been able to learn english from movies etc if I didn't have classes guiding me to a start ^^
So you can't say you "learned" it from movies exclusively^^
